AMERICA'S HOMETOWN TO BE HOLLYWOOD EAST???
by Ken Ellis

PLYMOUTH - For weeks and months now, there has been quite a buzz over the possiblity
of a major motion picture studio being built in Plymouth. Before you update your resume,
keep in mind that this is similar to talk of building a large scale Disney-style amusuement
park in Plymouth back in the 90s. As much as we would love to have a long story about
this, we defer to the experts on this one. NO ONE has been on top of this story more than
the Patriot Ledger. For their coverage, click on the banner below.

Updated April 24, 2008 - Motion picture production Studio to open in Weymouth?

The Boston Globe reports that a second Massachusetts movie studio is planned for
Weymouth. International Movie Group wants to build Southfield Studios at the site of
the former naval air base in South Weymouth. This 30 acre studio will house 10 - 15
sound stages and cost upwards of $300 million. Assuming all permit and tax incentive
issues are worked out construction could start within 90 days and the studio could be
operational within a year.
